Fort William, the Outdoor Capital of the UK has a wide variety of activities to enjoy from extreme mountain biking to leisurely walks and plenty of wet weather activities - there's something for everyone.
Outdoor Activities
Nevis Range is a year round tourist destination with ski-ing in the winter months, plenty of tracks for mountain biking and walking or enjoy the breathtaking views from Britain 's only mountain gondola.
Visit Glen Nevis, famous for its natural beauty where Braveheart and Rob Roy were filmed, and overlooked by mighty Ben Nevis. The Glen Nevis Visitor Centre is worth a visit for more information.
Crannog Cruises enjoy a trip down Loch Linnhe to Seal Island to observe a colony of seals on their home environment and enjoy the spectacular view to be had from the loch.
Loch Shiel Cruises Unique wildlife/historical cruises from Glenfinnan and Acharacle on beautiful Loch Shiel where there are regular sightings of Deer and rare birds.
For those interested in castles, at the turnoff to the A830 Road to the Isles there are the ruins of old Inverlochy Castle, which played a part in the Civil War of 1642 - 1645.
Glenfinnan itself, with the magnificent viaduct and famous monument to Bonnie Prince Charlie is well worth a visit.
Vertical Descents offers a variety of outdoor activities including mountain biking, canonying, climbing, paintballing, and 4x 4 offroading with trainers on hand for a great day of adventure.
Raceway Karting Centre for go-karting fun at Blar Mhor, just outside Fort William, one mile from the town centre.
The Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge, 9 miles from Fort William, is a magnificent monument to the Commandos of WWII

There is plenty to do in the area when the weather is inclement (as it occasionally is...) The following are some suggestions:
West Highland Museum in Fort William town Centre hosts a wealth of collections on local history along with natural history, geology and its world renowned Jacobite collection.
Treasures of the Earth is a fascinating exhibition of crystals and gemstones.
The Ice Factor contains the biggest ice climbing facility in the world as well as a rock climbing wall and bouldering wall. Sessions are run for children and adults alike.
Ben Nevis Distillery meet Hector McDram, take a tour of the production area and finish with a tasting session.
Jacobite Steam Train, passing through some beautiful scenery over the Glenfinnan Viaduct to the village of Mallaig. The Jacobite Steam Train was used in the Harry Potter Films and has proved a great tourist attraction!
